Product Domain MVP Scope

Recommended business areas and product portfolios for initial Product Domain implementation

Executive Summary

Discovery identified a broad and diverse product landscape across Wealth and General Insurance, with products distributed across multiple business areas, lifecycle states and administration platforms. The proposed MVP scope has been selected to provide representative coverage of the key Product Domain challenges identified during discovery while establishing a practical foundation for enterprise adoption.

Scope Selection Criteria

The MVP scope has been selected to provide representative coverage across:

• Wealth and General Insurance business areas

• Legacy and strategic platform estates

• Product hierarchy, ownership and lifecycle management

• Products, covers, options and variants

• Active, off sale and legacy portfolios

• Enterprise consumers and downstream data use cases

• Areas with high reuse potential across the wider estate

① Wealth Pensions

The Wealth landscape represents one of the largest and most diverse product estates identified during discovery, spanning pension, investment, retirement and protection related products across multiple business propositions and administration platforms.

The pensions portfolio has been selected as the primary Wealth MVP scope as it provides broad representation of product structures, lifecycle states and platform dependencies. The scope includes Individual Pensions, Workplace Pensions and Self Invested Personal Pensions across both legacy and strategic platforms, including BaNCS and FNZ.

The portfolio also provides visibility across retirement and investment related propositions, making it a representative area for establishing enterprise product hierarchy, lifecycle management, ownership and platform relationships.

② Pet Insurance

Pet Insurance has been selected as a focused General Insurance MVP use case that provides a clearly defined product structure while maintaining a manageable implementation scope.

The product supports validation of core Product Domain concepts including product hierarchy, cover structures, optional coverages, variants and lifecycle management.

③ Home Insurance

Home Insurance has been selected as a complementary General Insurance MVP use case due to its broader product composition and richer set of product relationships.

The product provides representative coverage of key insurance concepts including insurable objects, covers, optional covers, specified items and policy structures, enabling validation of more advanced Product Domain modelling patterns.

Enterprise Consumers

The proposed MVP scope provides direct value to a range of enterprise consumers that rely on consistent product definitions, classifications and relationships.
